There are over 62 million articles on Wikipedia in more than 330 languages. But which ones are clicked on most often? In our weekly ranking we show you the ten most read Wikipedia articles in 2024 – in Germany.
Wikipedia was founded on January 15, 2001 by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger. Since then, the platform has grown into the largest online encyclopedia in the world. It is used by millions of people every day as a source of information – including in Germany.
Wikipedia now includes around 62 million articles and other content in over 330 languages and dialects. Around 600 new posts are added every day. At the end of the year, Wikimedia Germany looked at what information people would be interested in in 2024 most interested.

The non-profit organization used the “Pageviews” tool to evaluate numerous data on Wikipedia usage. Including: the one thousand most frequently viewed posts per month. Only Wikipedia articles on topics that real people were looking for were taken into account.
The main page of Wikipedia and the Wikipedia search page will be removed. So-called false positives or views that came about through bots, SEO measures or special links were also excluded.
As before, current events, crises or cultural phenomena have had a major influence on the topics on which information was searched for on Wikipedia. However, there are also some long-running favorites in the top ten. In the following ranking we show you the most read Wikipedia articles in 2024.
10th place: Donald Trump
With 1,967,705 views The article about Donald Trump ends up in tenth place in the ranking of the most read Wikipedia articles in 2024. This means that the old and new President of the USA just barely made it onto the list. When he was first elected in 2017, he was in fifth place with 3,172,588 views.
