Overall, the representative survey of 2,100 households in Germany shows that consumers primarily know repair shops in smaller residential areas with up to 100,000 people. In big cities, only a few customers know what to do with their defective electrical device. There are also big differences between the federal states.

Basically, consumers in western Germany know more repair companies than in the east. The frontrunner is Saarland. Here, almost one in three people knows of a workshop near their own home – followed by Bremen (28%) and Baden-Württemberg (22%). The state capital Berlin is far behind: only one in seven people knows where they can have their broken electrical device repaired nearby.

At the same time, the study makes it clear: For more than half of the population (58%), having easily accessible repair shops in their own place of residence is important. After all, consumers are willing to travel 17 kilometers to the nearest workshop in order to have their defective device repaired there.
