In the run -up to the Bundestag election on February 23, 2025, we take a close look at the election programs of all relevant parties in terms of digitization, mobility and energy. Today in focus: the election program of the AfD.
Whether climate change, Ukraine war or economic crisis: With a view to the Bundestag election on February 23, 2025, politics, media and society face major challenges. Many voters will submit their voice by postal voting – probably as many than ever before.
In the run -up to the election, party political interests collide. But which party stands for which topics? And: who demands what? We provide an overview in our election program check. We focus on the topics of digitization, mobility and energy. This time: at Election program The Afd.
The AfD election program
Under the motto “Time for Germany”, the AfD focuses primarily on a restrictive migration policy, a departure from the EU and against climate protection measures. Nevertheless, a new “economic miracle” should start. With a view to the area of digitization, mobility and energy, however, this seems at least questionable.
Digitization
The word “digitization” only appears eight times in the AfD election program. Only with the BSW does the topic seem to play an even smaller role. The program of the right-wing party remains superficial in most places. In terms of education, the AfD speaks for modern and contemporary IT equipment.
However, the party rejects online lessons and “exclusive use of tablets in class”. The digital association Bitkom criticizedThat this was not up -to -date and that young people could not learn sufficient digital skills and media skills that needed it in an increasingly digital world.
According to the election program, the AfD wants to campaign “for the recognition of the law of the citizens on an analogous life outside of the digitized administrative and everyday processes as general”. The topic of data protection is very important, but the party rejects all EU laws such as the GDPR or the AI Act. Instead, the AfD supports a return to a slimmer Federal Data Protection Act.
The right wing party also relies on national concepts when regulating and promoting AI. The AfD considers measures against hate crime and disinformation on the Internet as a censorship.
mobility
The AfD wants to maintain the Germany ticket and offer it at “an honest price”. However, the party does not give a concrete sum. The election program only states that “the existing funds for improving the offer and the rail network should be issued” and not for subsidies “.
If it is after the AfD, the Germany ticket is likely to become significantly more expensive. As far as local public transport is concerned, the party does not seem to have a strategy – at least according to the election program. This is the only question of a “needs -based and future -proof” expansion of the infrastructure.
The term “public transport” only appears once in the entire program. The same applies to the words “bus” and “train”.
The AfD wants to convert the railway group into a GmbH and structured in such a way that the federal government can only control the infrastructure. The ticket prices are likely to continue to rise than decrease.
The combustion engine from 2035 is to be lifted. The AfD rejects the financing of a public charging infrastructure for electric cars. The party is against a speed limit – although the majority of the population is for it and advises experts.
energy
In its election program, the AfD questions the man -made climate change and rejects any climate protection measures. With that she contradicts 99 percent of science. The expansion of wind turbines and solar systems should not only be stopped, party leader Alice Weidel even said: “We tear down all wind power plants”.
So would almost 30 percent the entire German electricity production disappeared – round 125.00 employees would be faced with an uncertain future. Instead, the AfD wants to import oil and gas from Russia again and thus revive old dependencies again.
If the right wing party is to be extended, the terms of the German coal-fired power plants should be extended. According to the AfD party program, Germany should also return to nuclear energy, although the economy of nuclear power is extremely controversial.

As a Tech Industry expert, I believe that the AfD election program’s plans for digitization, energy, and mobility are lacking in depth and vision. While it is important for political parties to address these key areas for the future of our society, the AfD’s proposals seem to be overly simplistic and lack the necessary innovative solutions that are required to truly drive progress in these areas.
In terms of digitization, the AfD’s focus on data protection and security is certainly important, but they seem to be overlooking the opportunities that advancements in technology can bring to our economy and society. They should be looking at ways to promote digital innovation, support startups and small businesses in the tech sector, and invest in digital infrastructure to ensure that Germany remains competitive in the global digital economy.
When it comes to energy, the AfD’s emphasis on reducing energy costs for consumers is a valid concern, but their reliance on fossil fuels and skepticism towards renewable energy sources is short-sighted. In order to combat climate change and ensure a sustainable future, Germany needs to transition towards clean and renewable energy sources, invest in green technologies, and support the growth of the renewable energy sector.
In terms of mobility, the AfD’s focus on improving infrastructure and reducing traffic congestion is important, but they should also be looking at ways to promote sustainable and environmentally-friendly transportation options, such as public transit, cycling, and electric vehicles. They should also be addressing the challenges of urbanization and the impact of transportation on air quality and public health.
Overall, while the AfD’s election program touches on important issues related to digitization, energy, and mobility, their proposals lack the necessary vision and innovation that is needed to truly drive progress in these key areas. As a Tech Industry expert, I believe that Germany needs a more forward-thinking and ambitious approach to these issues in order to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for all.
