Whether climate change, Ukraine war or economic crisis: With a view to the Bundestag election on February 23, 2025, politics, media and society face major challenges. Many voters will submit their voice by postal voting – probably as many than ever before.
In the run -up to the election, party political interests collide. But which party stands for which topics? And: who demands what? We provide an overview in our election program check. We focus on the topics of digitization, mobility and energy. This time: at Election program the left.
The election program of the left
Under the motto “Share wealth. Lower prices. For each other ”, the left focuses primarily on an affordable life for people with low and medium -sized incomes as well as on“ effective ”climate protection. For the top duo Jan van Aken and Heidi Reichinnek it is clear: “The division of society in poor and rich is one of the biggest problems of our time”.
Digitization
The left wants to work for monopolies to be smashed. Specifically, the party is aiming for an antitrust law “which also has sharp teeth online”. The aim is to oblige digital companies such as Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple and Microsoft to avoid more data protection in order to avoid uncontrolled surveillance.
The party also requires greater taxation of profits at the place of sales. IT infrastructure, which is financed with taxpayers’ money, must be open source and thus accessible to everyone. The same applies to research results.
The left wants to strengthen fundamental rights by prohibiting data storage, online searches and ubiquitous video surveillance. Secret service back doors within software are an additional security problem. Foreign digital companies should also comply with occupational safety rights and collective agreements for employees in Germany.
According to the election program of the left, the federal government is expected to invest around ten billion euros per year in order to further advance broadband expansion. The infrastructure created by state funds must remain in public hands. For IT devices, data centers and software, clear requirements are needed to prevent further environmental degradation.
mobility
One of the big goals of the left: the use of bus and train should be completely free in the long term. In order to achieve this, the so -called Germany ticket should be maintained according to the party program – but no more than one euro per day. This would make it available for 30 instead of 58 euros in the future.
For rural areas, the party wants to guarantee a connection with public transport to the nearest top center – every hour from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Call buses, call collection taxis and citizen buses should complement the previous offer. In order to expand mobility stations, municipalities should receive money from the federal government.
According to the party program link, rail prices are to be gradually reduced by 50 percent. ICE tickets would therefore have to cost significantly less than a flight on the same route. Night trains should complement the previous offer. The party wants to move freight transport more onto the train and invest in the rail network. In order to make cycling and footpaths safer, the leftists demand a speed limit of 30 km/h.
Meanwhile, the combustion engine from 2035 is necessary to comply with the German and European climate goals. The state billions of billions for diesel, kerosene and so-called biofuel as well as the VAT exemption on international flight tickets are to be abolished.
energy
The left wants to cover the German electricity requirements entirely with renewable energies by 2035. The expansion of wind turbines, solar systems and Co. In order to provide relief for CO2 prices, a climate field should support people with low and medium-sized incomes.
The party wants to guarantee an affordable basic contingent of electricity and gas state. Energy may only become more expensive through a certain basic consumption. The ulterior motive: energy saving should be worthwhile again. The climate and transformation fund (KTF) must also be increased in order to invest and transport hydrogen in battery technologies and energy stores, among other things.
According to the election program of the left, fossil capitalism must end. Some of the parties would help mainly under the guise of technology open to technology that rub their hands. The party therefore does not want to leave the energy transition to the market.
In principle, energy consumption must be reduced and energy efficiency increases. In order to realize all of its projects, the left primarily relies on a wealth tax for super rich.
