With the Google Assistant, users have been able to have texts on websites read aloud for some time now. In the future, this will also be possible directly in the browser.
Because Google is introducing the new “Listen to this page” feature for its Chrome browser. In the future, you can simply have texts read out to you directly in the browser.
This is how you can have Google Chrome read texts to you
To do this, tap the three dots in the top right corner of your Chrome app. Under the “Translate” function you will find the new feature with which you can have texts read to you. To do this, click on “Listen to this page”.

For usability, Google has based the new feature for its browser on the interfaces of podcast or music apps. So you can not only have texts read to you, but you can also pause the reading, have it played back faster or fast forward. You can also set the reading voice and skip forward or backward for ten seconds.
As Chrome reads the text on the website to you, it is automatically highlighted. The browser also automatically scrolls through the page without you having to do anything.
When will the function be available?
Google is currently in the process of rolling out the new feature. If you want to check whether you can already use it, you have to click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the corresponding website. The menu opens here where you can find the new function in the future.
If this is not yet stored in the menu, you will probably have to wait for the next update. How 9to5Google reportedthe new feature is available from version 125 of the Android app for Chrome.
Google is already working on this feature for the desktop version of Chrome. However, a release date is not yet known.
Users of Apple devices will probably have to be patient a little longer. As usual, Google is rolling out new features for Android first. However, there is a similar feature in Safari that can read text on the website.
