In the “Homescreen!” series, we present the homescreens of people from the social media, marketing, media and tech industries – including app recommendations. Today: Timo Küsel, Chief Design Officer of the startup Flexvelop.
Timo Küsel is Chief Design Officer and Co-Founder of Flexvelop, a FinTech from Hamburg. He uses his iPhone 15 Pro as an essential tool for work and his personal life. Its home screen reflects this flexibility: a mix of collaboration, productivity and inspiration apps.
Productivity and security apps
Timo Küsel: Google (for Android) is my go-to tool for quick searches. No matter whether I’m researching something for a project or simply need information: I’m there with a touch. Google Authenticator (for Android): Safety is the top priority at Flexvelop. With two-factor authentication, we protect sensitive data – our own and that of our customers.
The Notes-Widget (for Android) is an indispensable companion in everyday life for all my thoughts, ideas and preparations – during sports or in the office – for calls, projects or spontaneous ideas I collect everything in my notes in order to clear my head and work in a structured manner.
This is how Timo Küsel organizes communication and collaboration in the team
Gmail (for Android) is our central tool for daily communication. From quick responses to project coordination, everything happens through Gmail. When it comes to staying in touch and working, of course I have to Slack (for Android) mention: Slack is our platform for teamwork. Whether it’s spontaneous coordination or project meetings, our team at Flexvelop always stays connected with Slack.
We use it as a Scrum board for our IT and design projects Trello (for Android) to organize and track tasks and ideas efficiently. Without our shared Google Calendar (for Android) nothing works for us. We organize appointments, meetings and to-dos centrally in one place. Google Sheets (for Android) are perfect for table collaboration. With Google Sheets we share files via link and are always up to date.
A personal assistant for quick answers and inspiration has become an integral part of my everyday work. I find it particularly helpful ChatGPT (for Android) in design analyzes and optimization suggestions. Simply upload a new design or screenshot and ChatGPT analyzes the usability of the elements and adds possible improvements or ideas. I currently prefer to use voice chat.
In the evening while I’m cooking, I let ChatGPT explain the world to me – you can hardly absorb knowledge in a more relaxed way. When it comes to English-language content for social media, I always go for it DeepL (for Android) back. Especially on LinkedIn (for Android), where we post for our international investors, it makes work a lot easier.
Timo Küsel draws inspiration from this
As a designer is Figma (for Android) essential for me. The mobile app makes it possible to test prototypes directly on the cell phone and see what mobile views look like not only on the PC, but also on the cell phone.
An unusual application: I use Airbnb (for Android) not only for booking, but also as a source for UX inspiration. The design is simply groundbreaking and always gives me new ideas. Also Spotify (for Android) for me is not just a platform for music and podcasts, but a source of UX inspiration. An app that works as a team with great structures and processes and that manages to perfect the user’s UX experience again and again with great design ideas.
